Our Final Morning on the Road – Lake Murphy Conservation Park

After six unforgettable weeks on the road, our Epic Winter Road Trip 2025 came to an end at Lake Murphy Conservation Park in Queensland.

This little free camp has become one of our favourites — quiet, scenic, and just a few hours from home. It’s the perfect spot for either your first night out or your last before heading back to reality.

The kookaburras gave us a noisy wake-up call, the air was a crisp three degrees, and Yolinda had one last teardrop tuckerup her sleeve — a hearty pan of Shakshuka (an East African-style breakfast with tomatoes, capsicum, and eggs cooked over the fire).

While breakfast bubbled away, we looked back on all the incredible places we’d been:

• Katoomba’s cliffs and mist,
• The starlit skies of Warrumbungle National Park,
• The granite hikes of Girraween,
• and the long stretches of open road between them all.
