After crossing the border back into Queensland, we found a quiet riverside spot at Lee’s Reserve, just outside Goondiwindi. Getting there took a little focus — the track down is steep and narrow — but once we made it, we had the whole place to ourselves beside the Dumaresq River.
This was our second last stop of the Epic Winter Road Trip, and we wrapped it up in true teardrop style: a relaxed camp setup, a simple chorizo and bacon gnocchi cooked under the stars, and a few laughs along the way.
If you’re travelling through southern Queensland and love peaceful, free camps with river views, Lee’s Reserve is definitely worth the detour.
