After a drive through the central west, we pulled into Warrumbungle National Park — home to towering rock formations, quiet bush trails, and one of the best stargazing spots in Australia.
Dinner on night one? A classic Potjie Pot, slow-cooked over the fire with rump steak, veggies, beer, and a spoonful (or two) of apricot jam. Yolinda’s twist made it one of the best meals of the trip.
As the temperature dropped, the fire glowed brighter and the stars came out — the perfect end to a cold winter’s night in our little teardrop, Tia.
The next morning dawned crisp and clear — the kind where your fingers go numb making coffee but the first rays of sun make it all worth it. We hit a few of the hiking trails through the Warrumbungles, camera rolling but mouths shut — just the sound of boots, birds, and the breeze through the trees.
After two nights here, it was time to pack up and point the car towards Moree. But this stop will be hard to beat — campfire food, cold air, and sky full of stars.
