We kicked this trip off at Kinbombi Falls… and it didn’t exactly ease us in.
This was actually our second attempt at staying here after a previous trip got completely washed out. So naturally, we were hoping for better luck this time.
Spoiler: mixed results.
The night started simple enough with a quick stir fry dinner and a bit of camp setup. But not long after, the fridge started playing up again. Something that’s becoming a recurring theme on our trips.
Still, not a bad spot to be stuck troubleshooting.
From there, we made our way down to Flanagan Reserve for a Tucana “Puddle” — a catch-up with other teardrop owners.
And honestly, this is where the trip really hit its stride.
There’s something pretty special about seeing a whole bunch of similar setups in one place. Everyone’s got their own tweaks, mods, and ideas, and it quickly turns into a mix of show-and-tell, campfire chats, and just hanging out.
After a few days there, we wrapped things up at Cedar Grove near Amamoor for a quieter finish.
Slower pace. Fewer people. Just a nice way to wind things down.
This trip had a bit of everything:
- unpredictable weather
- gear frustrations
- great company
- and a few solid camp meals along the way
Which, let’s be honest… is pretty much what camping is all about.
