Camping, Cooking Too Much Food, and Calling It a Win

This trip took us from the quiet surrounds of Crows Nest National Park to a familiar and easy-going stay at Sandy Creek Hipcamp.

We started out at Crows Nest Falls, heading out for a short hike while things were still calm and peaceful. It’s a great spot for an easy walk, with flowing water, shaded tracks, and that relaxed national park feel that makes you slow down without trying.

After that, we packed up and made our way to Sandy Creek Hipcamp, where we settled in for a couple of nights. It’s a place we’ve stayed before and still rate highly — plenty of space, a relaxed setup, and just enough structure to be comfortable without feeling crowded.

The evening was classic camp life: flies turning up uninvited, casual conversations drifting from campsite layouts to fridge ideas, and a teardrop-friendly version of San Choy Bao that somehow ended up feeding us for days. As usual, we cooked too much, laughed about it, and counted that as a success.

This video captures the slower moments — the walk, the light fading, the cooking, and the small chats that happen when you’re not rushing anywhere. No big agenda, just camping as it unfolded.
