Our second night at Sandy Creek Hipcamp had all the ingredients for a classic camp evening — a fire, a simple dinner plan, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
After an IKEA run earlier in the day (which somehow filled the ute completely), dinner became an exercise in improvisation. With the main barbecue gear buried, we made do with what we had and cooked chicken kebabs straight over the fire.
There was marinading, mozzie management, a fire that may have been a bit too enthusiastic, and plenty of banter along the way. Somehow, it all came together — and dinner was absolutely worth the effort.
The next morning brought the real challenge: fitting everything back into the car before moving on to the next stop. Tight? Yes. Impossible? Apparently not.
This video captures exactly what we love about camping — simple meals, problem-solving on the fly, and embracing the messiness of real life outdoors.
